Volunteer Spotlight: Susan

The Heart of a Volunteer

Susan is a regular volunteer at the center, participating in house activities including the weekly bible studies.  She also spends time regularly helping Central Oregon’s homeless get a hot shower and some clean clothes when she works with the weekly shower truck.

We asked Susan what stands out about her volunteer experience and she said, “I have seen many women being healed from the traumas of addiction, abuse, and homelessness at the Women and Children’s Center. The graduates go on to be reunited with family, find jobs, and locate permanent housing. Other outreaches provide food, clothing and shelter in the winter months. The staff treats the homeless and vulnerable with respect and compassion.

The work we do at Shepherd’s House – from the Men and Women’s Recovery Centers to the food pantry to the Bend Shelter and Project S.H.A.R.E, cannot be accomplished without volunteers like Susan.
